How are Stripe fees calculated?
The standard rate is 2.9% + $0.30. If you customer pay $100, Stripe fee is ($100 * 0.029) + $0.30 = $3.20.
What percentage does Stripe take?
Stripe fees are split into 3 categories: Standard, Billing and Terminal.
The rates for Standard payments is 2.9% + $0.30 for domestic cards and 4.4% + $0.30 for international cards.
For Billing payments, it's 0.5% for sellers on the starter plan and 0.8% for those on the scale plan.
Lastly for transactions on Terminal, it's 2.7% + $0.05 for domestic cards and 3.7% + $0.05 for international cards.
Is Stripe cheaper than PayPal?
Stripe is way cheaper than PayPal.
PayPal charges 3.49% + $0.49 for each standard transaction while Stripe only asks for 2.9% + $0.30. Stripe also gives you further discount if you're a high-volume business.
